Your cat or dog is a big part of your life, so looking after their day-to-day health is a big priority. Part of that responsibility is protecting them against the threat of intestinal parasites which present a risk to you and your family.
Intestinal worming treatments
Intestinal worming is recommended from 2 weeks of age. Worming is generally fortnightly until 12 weeks old, then monthly until 6 months old and then every 3 months for life. Some products also cover the heartworm, which may be mean it is required monthly so please ensure to always read the label. The recommended brands are:
Cazitel All Wormer tablets treat your dog for all major species of gastrointestinal worms including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm. It also controls shedding of Giardia oocysts. Dogs are constantly exposed to intestinal worms, even before they are born. Quarterly intestinal worming is recommended for all adult dogs and more frequently in puppies.
Milbemax for cats is an easy quarterly treatment for Roundworm, , Hookworm and Tapeworm. The tablets are very small compared to others on the market which makes administering them a lot easier for both the pet and their owners.
Drontal is a fast and effective intestinal worming chew for dogs. It kills the most important intestinal worms including Roundworm, Whipworm, Hookworm and Tapeworm. Made with liver, Drontal Chews are high in flavour which makes them very palatable and can be used as a treat for your dog. Drontal is very safe & it can be used in puppies from as young as 2 weeks old. Using Drontal on a regular basis can also protect your family against catching worms from their pets, providing much needed peace of mind.
Interceptor Spectrum is a tasty monthly chew for dogs that provides protection against Heartworms, Roundworms, Whipworms and Hookworms. Interceptor can safely be used in puppies from 2 weeks of age, breeding males and females along with pregnant and lactating females. If your dog has not been on any heartworm preventative and is over 6 months old, it is recommended to have a heartworm test prior to commencing Interceptor.
